Completion of Strata Control Services acquisition

Minova Australia is pleased to announce the completion of the acquisition of Strata Control Systems (SCS) and Sydney Galvanising Services (SGS). The acquisition of SCS and SGS by Minova (Orica) was by way of an asset purchase, and effective Monday 26th May 2008 the SCS & SGS businesses will operate under the Minova Australia Pty Ltd business and ABN.

Minova is the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of chemical strata support and ventilation products to the underground mining and tunnelling industries. Strata Control Systems are a market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of quality steel strata support consumables for the Australasian underground tunnelling and hard rock mining industries.

The Minova/SCS combination will provide the Australasian mining and tunnelling industries with a strong and reliable single provider of quality strata support consumables. In addition to SCS/SGS, the integration of Excel Mining (USA), acquired late in 2007 by Minova International, will provide additional technology and strength to Minova, now the world’s largest provider of ground support consumables.

The SCS/SGS businesses at Smithfield and Prestons in NSW, and Welshpool in WA, will continue to function normally with all sales, administration, technical, manufacturing and distribution personnel remaining in place. All future SCS and SGS business correspondence should be directed to Minova Australia Pty Ltd, at the usual SCS and SGS point of contact.

Manufacturing, sales, distribution and customer service will not be affected following this completion, and all enquiries, orders, technical and service functions will continue with existing personnel and contact numbers etc. being retained. All customers will be contacted and where possible visited in the coming weeks to discuss the acquisition and answer any questions.
